The rebound tonometer, also known as an impact tonometer, adopts innovative sensing rebound technology. The magnetized probe generates N/S poles when inserted into the tonometer. A transient current in the solenoids of the device creates a transient magnetic field, causing the magnetized probe to move towards the cornea at 0.2m/s (homopolar repulsion principle). The probe bounces on the anterior surface of the cornea, slowing down and rebounding. If the ocular pressure increases, the deceleration of the probe increases, and the duration of the impact decreases.
The electrical control switch monitors the solenoid voltage caused by the rebound of the magnetized probes. The electrical signal processors and microsensors calculate the deceleration of the probe after impacting the cornea. Finally, the integrated information is converted into ocular pressure readings.
The rebound tonometer is an electric measuring type pressure gauge that converts pressure into voltage or current signals through the physical characteristics of the metal. The tonometer can obtain measurement data within 0.1 seconds.
Used in tonometry tests by ophthalmologists, optometrists, general physicians, and professional health advisors. Beneficial for patients with dementia, mobility problems, and children in measuring cornea edema, opacity, or uneven cornea surface. Handy for glaucoma patients to measure ocular pressure at home.
*Short measuring time, only seconds.
*Reduces check time for glaucoma.
*Capable of storing ocular data for up to ten patients.
